Considering that, along with the dramatic improvements in dental techniques and materials, it is not surprising that the popularity of cosmetic dentistry has skyrocketed in recent years. Why choose a holistic cosmetic dentist

At Smile in Style, we understand how important it is to feel proud of your smile. However, we also understand that any dental treatment, including cosmetic work, has the potential to impact your overall health. If aggressive techniques or unhealthy materials are used, your smile makeover might not feel as good as it looks. We make efforts to conserve tooth structure, so that your oral health problems are addressed, along with you cosmetic concerns, your health, and your appearance.

The beauty of science and technology

Dentistry is changing rapidly, and for the better. If your dentist isn’t using the latest technology, you may be missing out. That is why we have equipped our offices with state of the art dental equipment including the Lightwalker laser, CEREC, an in-office milling system, low-radiation digital x-ray equipment, and the facilities to place implants using guided surgery. These technologies allow us to minimise discomfort, preserve healthy teeth, and perform a variety of procedures with optimal results. Orthodontics, using the POS system can also be used to align teeth in preference to placing veneers and cutting back healthy tooth structure.

Planning your smile makeover

An informed decision is a smart decision. Our comprehensive examination process and clinical photo series are extremely useful tools to discuss treatment options with you regarding your smile. We strive to educate our patients about the advantages, disadvantages, and potential alternatives for any procedure, and we are always happy to answer questions. We understand that one of the biggest questions you are likely to have is, “What will I look like?” That is not easily answered in words, so we have implemented a convenient and easy to use smile preview app right here on our website.

Safe Amalgam Removal Protocol

  • Chlorella drink prior is given prior to treatment and a mouth rinse post-treatment. Chlorella can help bind and prevent mercury absorption.
  • Physical protective barriers - Masks, protective coverings, eyewear, in-mouth non-latex dental dams, and other steps are taken to prevent physical contact with mercury for the patient and staff.
  • Oral evacuation - Generous amounts of water are used to continuously rinse particulate matter from the mouth while suctioning it away. Combined with protective dental dams, this prevents patients from swallowing dental amalgam particles during treatment. Additionally, the rinsing helps lower the temperature of the filling, reducing the amount of mercury vapour released.
  • External air - A continuous supply of non-contaminated air or oxygen is delivered via a mask or similar apparatus, preventing inhalation of mercury vapour or particles.
  • "Chunk it out" method - Rather than using a drill to grind the filling down, it is carefully removed in the largest possible pieces, minimising friction, vaporisation.
  • High Volume Evacuation Suction is used by the dental assistant to remove amalgam particles in the mouth.
  • High Volume Air suction and Air Purifiers are used in the clinical room that is able to remove mercury vapour from the room.
  • Amalgam separator use - This device collects mercury-contaminated waste before it can enter the sewage system, allowing us to dispose of it safely.
