The art and science used by your cosmetic dentist in the Melbourne area achieves beautiful results

Every time we pass our reflection, we are given the opportunity to contemplate the various aspects of our appearance. What we see in our smile can do one of two things: bolster our sense of self-confidence or leave us feeling downright sad. When our teeth are not in great condition, our urge to smile is greatly diminished. Imagine what life would be like if you loved your smile! When you stop to consider what may be accomplished with your cosmetic dentist in the Melbourne area, the feeling that you imagine becomes a real possibility. Cosmetic dentistry combines the perfect blend of science and art to build beautiful smiles.

There are no specific certifications required to perform cosmetic dental treatments. No additional testing. What your skilled cosmetic dentist has done is committed hundreds of hours to advanced training in the various procedures intended to improve the look of the smile. Whether it is teeth whitening, orthodontics, crowns, or porcelain veneers, your dentist has the knowledge and the hands-on experience needed to achieve the result best suited to your personality, your wants, your expectations, and your lifestyle. Our team loves helping patients renew their sense of confidence through cosmetic dental treatment.

Your most attractive smile begins right here. When you consult with a Smile in Style dentist, you have the chance to address specific concerns with a dental professional. In addition to performing a thorough examination to ensure that no dental problems will stand in the way of beautiful cosmetic results, your dentist will design a treatment plan around the aspects of your smile you most wish to correct. The extent of enhancement is up to you and can be tailored to the finest detail, such as the shape of teeth. Essentially, you are in the driver’s seat when it comes to your personal smile design.

You may have reached the point where you know something has to change for you to love your smile. You may even know what that is. Now it is time to accomplish your goals with cosmetic dentistry. This process is not one-size-fits-all. You may have the same overall goal as another person, but your way of achieving your best smile may be different. Our goal in your smile design is to perform the procedures best suited to your needs using the latest technologies. We collect all the records we need to plan your treatment in our comprehensive examination visit, which we do for all new patients in the practice. This gives us a baseline of your dental health. At a subsequent visit we will present our findings to you where we will discuss your wants and needs. Of course we need to also advise you on which treatment options will be successful and what the appropriate treatment sequence should be to get the best possible result for you.

Safe Amalgam Removal Protocol

  • Chlorella drink prior is given prior to treatment and a mouth rinse post-treatment. Chlorella can help bind and prevent mercury absorption.
  • Physical protective barriers - Masks, protective coverings, eyewear, in-mouth non-latex dental dams, and other steps are taken to prevent physical contact with mercury for the patient and staff.
  • Oral evacuation - Generous amounts of water are used to continuously rinse particulate matter from the mouth while suctioning it away. Combined with protective dental dams, this prevents patients from swallowing dental amalgam particles during treatment. Additionally, the rinsing helps lower the temperature of the filling, reducing the amount of mercury vapour released.
  • External air - A continuous supply of non-contaminated air or oxygen is delivered via a mask or similar apparatus, preventing inhalation of mercury vapour or particles.
  • "Chunk it out" method - Rather than using a drill to grind the filling down, it is carefully removed in the largest possible pieces, minimising friction, vaporisation.
  • High Volume Evacuation Suction is used by the dental assistant to remove amalgam particles in the mouth.
  • High Volume Air suction and Air Purifiers are used in the clinical room that is able to remove mercury vapour from the room.
  • Amalgam separator use - This device collects mercury-contaminated waste before it can enter the sewage system, allowing us to dispose of it safely.
