Make the most of your Sunbury dental care with beautiful veneers

We have one smile that we carry through life. As such, it makes sense to treat our smile to the best possible care so that we look and feel our best. With our smile, we do more than greet others. With every smile we are also conveying a small part of ourselves. Based on the color and overall condition of our teeth, we may be sending the wrong message. Additionally, when we are keenly aware of what is lacking in our smile, we will most likely carry ourselves with less confidence than we may like. Dr. Rose and the Smile in Style team love helping patients realise their best confidence through personalised cosmetic dental care. In our Sunbury and Moonee Ponds offices, we may suggest veneers, orthodontics, bleaching, or crowns for the most beautiful and natural looking smile.

Veneers are thin porcelain covers designed and made at our dental office using Cerec and Omnicam technology. These covers, crafted from high quality porcelain material, are incredibly versatile and capable of beautiful smile transformations. With a single veneer, the entire smile can be improved by covering a gap or chip in a tooth. In other cases, veneers may be placed on several teeth that show in the smile, evening out the smile line by bringing all teeth to the same length. With porcelain, we are able to produce a result that looks just like natural enamel. Porcelain is a material that is strong. Once applied to the teeth with the bonding procedure, will last for many years, while resisting stains even better than natural enamel.

Patients of Smile in Style who have broken or chipped teeth, whose teeth are discolored or oddly shaped, can find treatment with porcelain veneers the ideal solution. With minimal preparation to complete the smile transformation process, veneers are straightforward and convenient. For small cases veneers can often be made and cemented on the same day. For larger cases, two visits are often necessary. In cases where there are inadequate amounts of tooth structure remaining, heavy wear, gross misalignment of teeth or bruxism then veneers may not be a suitable solution. In those cases crowns/ shell crowns or orthodontics may be necessary to gain the best results. It is generally prudent for the patient to wear a night splint after veneer construction to prevent the veneers being dislodged with night time grinding forces.

Safe Amalgam Removal Protocol

  • Chlorella drink prior is given prior to treatment and a mouth rinse post-treatment. Chlorella can help bind and prevent mercury absorption.
  • Physical protective barriers - Masks, protective coverings, eyewear, in-mouth non-latex dental dams, and other steps are taken to prevent physical contact with mercury for the patient and staff.
  • Oral evacuation - Generous amounts of water are used to continuously rinse particulate matter from the mouth while suctioning it away. Combined with protective dental dams, this prevents patients from swallowing dental amalgam particles during treatment. Additionally, the rinsing helps lower the temperature of the filling, reducing the amount of mercury vapour released.
  • External air - A continuous supply of non-contaminated air or oxygen is delivered via a mask or similar apparatus, preventing inhalation of mercury vapour or particles.
  • "Chunk it out" method - Rather than using a drill to grind the filling down, it is carefully removed in the largest possible pieces, minimising friction, vaporisation.
  • High Volume Evacuation Suction is used by the dental assistant to remove amalgam particles in the mouth.
  • High Volume Air suction and Air Purifiers are used in the clinical room that is able to remove mercury vapour from the room.
  • Amalgam separator use - This device collects mercury-contaminated waste before it can enter the sewage system, allowing us to dispose of it safely.
